Moxa or Moxibustion is the use of an herb to help promote circulation by warming up specific areas of the body.  This method used when the body is cold or is lacking proper blood flow.

The types of moxibustion are 1)  direct moxa ; 2) indirect moxa.
Direct moxa involves placing the moxa (herb) directly onto the body to warm the body.
Indirect moxa involves heating the body without direct contact with the body and can be in the following forms:  adhesive sticks, moxa stick, placing it on the acupuncture needle, etc.)

When the body's immune systems is low, moxibustion is used to help improve the immune system and to allow the body to contain / feel more energy.
